1-month-old preemie Kylen was born at 32 weeks in Bastrop, LA with 2 holes in his heart. These holes force fluid to be pumped into his lungs, causing labored and difficult breathing.
Due to his condition, he was transported to Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans and his mom Ripley came to stay with us at the House. Kylen is scheduled for surgery this week to repair the holes in his little heart.
Ripley has been here for nearly a month and she has truly embraced RMHCSLA as her home away from home.
Ripley was happy to share her experience, saying, “I am in the best of care here at the house. I feel so welcomed and they are here for me when I just need someone to talk to. There is always a friendly face at the desk. They make sure I have food and a comfortable place to lay my head every night”.
Since her stay began, Ripley has been quite active with
house activities. “I got to meet the cutest puppies during
Paws4Healing pet therapy, and I also got to go to a
Saints game with my mom, [thanks to a generous donor] at the biggest stadium we have ever seen. It was amazing!”
