Layla is a vibrant 7 year-old from Lake Charles, LA. In February 2024, she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma which is a type of rare cancer that develops in nerve tissues. Layla’s grandmother  had the opportunity to stay at our former location on Canal Street, 21 years ago and says that it is amazing to see the growth and change of the House. She shared that RMHCSLA eases the stress of somewhere to stay for her family and truly appreciates the provided meals and pantry which accommodates Layla’s low bacteria diet. While here, Layla and her family has enjoyed spending time in the library, the weekly Quali-TEA-time, and the provided  guest pass to the Louisiana Children’s Museum. The family has made RMHCSLA their home since August 9th for a total of 90 nights and counting. Layla has made a best friend, CJ and the two of them discovered that they share similar journeys and can be seen playing together throughout the House!
