Maverick

We recently had a family from Gueydan, LA staying with us in our Family Room while their son, Maverick, was in the NICU after being born at 34 weeks (about 8 months).

They found the Family Room to be a welcoming place that eased their worries during such a stressful time.
Grandmother Leslie appreciated how supportive the environment was, saying, “Watching all these
caring ladies put forth so much effort into everything they do every single day just amazed me.” It
became a space where they could connect with other families facing similar challenges. She went on, “I feel like we have become one big happy family here. These ladies will let you cry on their
shoulders as well as sit and laugh with you. These times are stressful, but they definitely know how
to put your mind at ease.”
They were grateful for the compassion shown by the staff and volunteers, who made them feel
comfortable and safe during their stay.
Overall, the family felt a strong sense of support from everyone around them, which made a
significant difference to them as they navigated this challenging time
