9 year old Vivian and her family are from Merryville, LA. She was diagnosed with Chiari malformation which is a condition where the cerebellum pushes through the opening between the skull and spinal cord. This condition leads to various neurological symptoms which is why this family has had multiple stays at the Ronald McDonald House. Over the past year, the family has been frequent guests at the House and they truly appreciate not having to worry about if they will have a place to stay or a meal if they do not have the funds. Vivian’s mom has formed lasting friendships here with other families as well as the staff and volunteers. “The very first stay, we were so nervous, scared, and had all kinds of emotions because of other major surgeries Vivian had. But Brie (Family Services Superstar!!) welcomed us with open arms literally hugged me while I cried, showered my Vivian with love, support, prayer, and comforting words”, she continued. RMHCSLA has truly been this family’s home away from home. The family also mentioned that they consider our staff and volunteers as members of their family and are grateful that their hospital visits and stays are easier and stress-free due to RMHCSLA.
